This compact, spreading perennial is a great option for dense, late summer blooms. It grows shorter, with more closely packed fluffy, yellow flowers than many other meadow goldenrods. Over time, in the right spot, it will grow into approximately three foot clumps. Autumn goldenrod is a must for butterfly gardeners who want to help monarch butterflies on their southward migration.
While not historically native to Pennsylvania, it is native to West Virginia and is a climate forward choice to adapt a perennial garden to a warming climate.
